<p>A drain valve (10) is provided for connection to a water supply line (14) for draining water in a vacuum flush aircraft sanitation system (12). The valve (10) comprises a housing (56) having a fluid inlet (58) and a fluid outlet (60). The housing (56) also includes a pressure chamber (62) with a diaphragm (64) that is normally biased to a first position by a spring (76) when the chamber (62) is depressurized. This allows water to flow from the fluid inlet (58) to the fluid outlet (60) and ultimately to a drain mast (46) of the aircraft. When the chamber (62) is pressurized, however, the diaphragm (64) moves to a second position which operates a linkage mechanism (88) that moves a plug (128) against a seat (130) in the fluid outlet (60) to close the fluid outlet (60) so that rinse water does not drain from the valve's fluid inlet (58).</p> |
