The brake, particularly of the disc type for automotive use, has hydraulically-operated shoes in a caliper, acting against opposite disc sides. Each piston has a drilling in the end towards the shoe accommodating an insert with covering portion over its end towards the shoe accommodating an insert with covering portion over its end face. The insert has some free movement in the drilling in the axial and radial directions. The insert incorporates a plate-type intermediate layer (8a), joining its two portions (7) together.
