The device for transporting bottles etc. through a bottle cleaning machine or the like has an input and output station comprising two parallel endless articulated or roller chains with guide and holder elements. Each two cylinder axes (27, 28) of two adjoining chain members (16, 17) have at their axle ends a guide or holder plate (30, 31) extending at right angles thereto. A profiled strip (33, 34) or profiled body (50) of elastic synthetic material is fixed to each guide and holder plate (30, 31) directed towards the parallel chain so that loops are formed for taking up and holding the bottle which is to be transported. The oppositely mounted guide and holder plates have a different surface area size. USE/ADVANTAGE - The machine is compact and space-saving and can be used for bottles etc. of different size.
