PURPOSE:To eliminate a shift in exposure position on a photosensitive body between a case wherein an original is positioned manually and a case of automatic original feeding by correcting the lateral position of an optical system in an optical scanning means. CONSTITUTION:When the original is placed by hand on a transparent platen 2, a step part is formed between the platen 2 and the frame of a copying machine housing so as to enable the original to be positioned along the lateral edge of the platen 2. An automatic document feeder 13 is provided above the platen 2 and the optical scanning means 3 which has the optical system for projecting a light image of the original on the photosensitive body 4 by scanning the original is provided below the platen 2. In automatic original feed mode, the original is sent having a gap with the step part between the platen 2 and housing frame. In the copy mode wherein a control means is combined with the optical scanning means 3 and the automatic document feeder 13 operates, the lateral position of the optical system in the scanning means 3 is corrected to correct the lateral shift of the light image of the original projected on the photosensitive body 4. |
