The magnetic element is produced in a planar form that lends itself to the formation of high performance microtransformers and inductances. The magnetic element has a number of substrates with a multiple coil planar coil (40) with a rectangular form. The unit has a substrate (10) and an insulating layer (20A) supporting a magnetic layer (30A). A further insulating layer (20B) separates this from the coil. A similar arrangement is provided (20, 30B) on the top side of the coil. ADVANTAGE - High current performance, adequate h.f. inductance.
