This plant consists: - of one or more anaerobic lagoons (1) containing a sludge bed arranged at the bottom, the said lagoon(s) being made leakproof by the placing of a synthetic impervious surface or membrane; - of a distribution system (5) for the effluent to be treated, placed at the bottom of the lagoon(s) (1); - of a watertight and gastight covering for each lagoon, placed on a supporting framework or reinforcement resting in the gutters (10) of the hydraulic ring, also made impervious; - of conduits for the removal of gases (11), for sludge purges (12) and for the outflow (14) of treated water, particularly towards the infiltration lagoons; and - of control and measuring instruments (13).
