The subject of the present invention is a process and an apparatus for making a container comprising a cylindrical tubular body (2) fitted at each of its ends with a lower (3) and an upper (4) collar, respectively, extending over a portion of the peripheral surface of the said body (2). According to the invention, a shrinkage of the upper portion (4b) of the upper collar (4) is carried out simultaneously with the formation of a groove (4a) on the said collar (4), and, during this shrinkage, the peripheral edge of the said collar (4) and of the said body (2) is supported and guided so that the diameter of the said upper portion (4b) is less than that of the lower portion (4c) of the said collar (4) and so that a band (7) for gripping a cap (6), after it has been installed, is substantially aligned with the body (2) of the container. <IMAGE> |
