PURPOSE:To obtain a data recording medium having high data recording sensitivity and reflectivity and excellent in light fastness by providing a recording layer containing a mixture containing a dye having a specific absorption curve and a specific double refractive index and a phthalocyanine dye having an absorption max. wavelength on the side of a wavelength shorter than the absorption max. wavelength of said dye on a substrate. CONSTITUTION:A data recording medium is formed by providing a recording layer containing a mixture consisting of a dye A having a double refractive index wherein there is an end part at a wavelength of 780nm on the long wavelength side of an absorption curve and teh absolute value of an imaginary part at the wavelength of 780nm is 0.2 or less and a phthalocyanine dye (dye B) having an absorption max. wavelength on the side of a wavelength shorter than the absorption max. wavelength of the dye A and capable of recording data by laser beam on a substrate. The dye A is a cyanine dye having a benzoindolenine skeleton. Since the dyes A, B have specified absorption characteristics and absorption characteristic relation, the data recording medium is not almost lowered in recording and reproducing characteristics such as C/N or the degree of modulation and enhanced in reflectivity to a large extent and generates no lowering of reflectivity and C/N even in the presence of light and has excellent light fastness. |
