<p>In a control system (22) for power-assisted steering, the power assistance may be activated or deactivated by at least one control signal.
<??>The control system comprises:
a means (17, 26) for the measurement of at least one parameter used to activate the power assistance and a means (17, 27) for the measurement of at least one parameter used to deactivate the power assistance (speed and accleration respectively of rotation of the steering wheel),
a means (29) for carrying out a first test to detect whether at least one activating parameter fulfils an activating condition, and a means (32) for the activation of the power assistance (19) in response to the first test, and
a means (28) for carrying out a second test to detect whether at least one deactivating parameter fulfils a deactivating condition, and a means (33) for deactivating the power assistance in response to the second test.
