The device described for checking the illuminating system (1) of an endoscope allows both the lamp (7) itself and the optical-fibre cable (2) to be checked for their functional state. For this purpose, the device has a beam splitter (9), which is arranged in the beam path of the lamp (7) and feeds a portion of the quantity of light emitted by the lamp to a recording device (11). A recording device (12) provided with an attachment for accommodating the distal end of the optical fibre (2) receives the light quantity emerging from the optical fibre cable. Between the signal derived therefrom and the signal generated by the recording device (11), the transmittance is determined by forming the quotient in a computing circuit (13) and output via a display (5). In this way, it can be detected whether the transmission of the optical-fibre cable (2) permits adequate illumination of the objects to be inspected, or whether the optical fibre cable has to be replaced. …<IMAGE>… |
