<p>A twist tie feed device (10) is provided for twisting together the ends of a tie ribbon (4) which encircles a product (12) including a base plate (26). A twist head assembly (28) is mounted on the base plate (26) and receives a first end of a tie ribbon (14) which encircles the product (12) and a second end of the encircling tie ribbon (14) and will rotate about itself to twist the tie ribbon (14) about the article. Two positive drive wheels (62,64) feed the ribbon (14) in one of a first direction (D) towards the twist head assembly and a second direction (F) away from the twist head assembly so that the wheels contact the ribbon (14) at its top and bottom to apply a positive drive force to the drive ribbon as it passes between the drive wheels. A drive assembly (200) is operatively coupled to the twist head assembly (28) and the drive wheels (62,64) for driving the positive drive wheels (62,64) and twist head assembly (28). <IMAGE></p> |
