In a radial plating cell (10) comprising a winding roll (14) for winding thereon a metal strip (12), an arch-shaped anode (16) spaced at a predetermined distance from the winding roll (14), and a pair of edge masks (18) interposed between the winding roll (14) and the anode (16) in register with the edges of the metal strip (12), a mechanism (30) for moving the edge mask (18) is comprised of a drive screw (20) and a travelling nut (22) engaged thereon and received in a channel (28) which is formed in the anode (16) surface and extends in the transverse direction of the metal strip (12), whereby the edge mask (18) secured to the nut (22) is moved along the drive screw (20) with rotation of the drive screw (20).
