A method of generating images utilizing an electronic stylus which comprises: a) carrying out drawing movements with the stylus; b) electronically sensing the position and tilt of the stylus; c) generating a patch of image signals in a location dependent upon the position of the stylus; d) adjusting the size and/or shape of the patch as a function of the tilt of the stylus; and e) translating the position of the patch as a function of the tilt of the stylus.
