An air cushion levitation device intended particularly for a precision size control and measuring machine, including a stand (10) with at least one plane surface (16) and at least one rigid movable element (12) having at least one plane surface facing the plane surface of the stand. The device is characterized in that the functional guide surface of the movable element's plane surface is divided by grooves (40) into separate sectors (32) each of which includes at least one calibrated nozzle (34) provided with a supply of pressurized or low-pressure fluid so that the movable element can be extremely accurately manoeuvred with respect to the stand. A translational moving device, a rotational moving device and a support device are also described.
