PURPOSE: To obtain the subject batt excellent in durability and moisture transporting properties and reduced in flammability by heat-treating a mixture of polyester fibers having a cured film of a slickener having a poly(alkylene oxide) chain with a binder having a lower binding temperature than the softening point of the fibers. CONSTITUTION: This bait is obtained by blending polyester fibers having a cured coating of a slickener comprising a poly(alkylene oxide) chain [e.g. poly(ethylene terephthalate) fibers] with binder fibers having a lower binding temperature than the softening temperature of polyester fibers, then superimposing and processing the blend in plural parallel layers without crosslapping, heat- treating the material at 160 deg.C temperature in a furnace and binding the material at cross over points. Thereby, the batt bound to all of the fiberfills of a polyester having improved durability, moisture transporting properties, soft hand and reduced flammability is obtained. |
