发明名称 PRODUCTION OF SPHERICAL REFRACTORY RAW MATERIAL MADE OF ALUMINUM TITANATE
摘要 PURPOSE:To obtain a spherical refractory raw material having corrosion resistance originated from alumina and excellent spalling resistance by granulating a mixture of TiO2 and Al2O3 in spherical form and firing the granules. CONSTITUTION:The objective spherical refractory raw material made of aluminum titanate can be produced by granulating a mixture composed mainly of TiO2 and Al2O3 and having TiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio of 0.2-2.0 and firing the obtained spherical product. Fine cracks are generated in the aluminum titanate during the cooling state after firing. The refractory raw material has extremely excellent spalling resistance, supposedly by the lowering the expansion coefficient of the material caused by the fine cracks existing in the grain boundary. The fine crack lowers the mechanical strength of the particle and chipping trouble is liable to occur in the compression molding of a molded refractory article from the above refractory raw material. The problem is solved in the present refractory raw material by using particles having spherical form.
