NEW MATERIAL:Indanonaphthol A and its salt having the following physical and chemical properties. Appearance, yellow powder; molecular formula, C19H12O6; molecular weight, 336 (FAB-MS method); elemental analysis (%), C 66.57, H 4.37; solubility, soluble in alcohols (e.g. methanol, ethanol, propanol and butanol), dimethyl sulfoxide, DMF, chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetone and ethyl ether and insoluble in n-hexane and water; color reactions, positive to sulfuric acid, iodine, potassium permanganate and ferric chloride reactions; etc. USE:Antibacterial agent. PREPARATION:A microbial strain belonging to genus Hormoonema [e.g. Hormoonema sp. SANK 50190 (FERM P-11359)] is aerobically cultured at 22-23 deg.C. |
