PURPOSE:To obtain anti-slip performance and travel stability at different types of speed and acceleration by providing a differential limiting means for limiting a differential operation between wheels, depending upon the degree of acceleration, and a control means for controlling the amount of torque required for the aforesaid limiting means to control the differential operation, depending upon speed. CONSTITUTION:The engagement condition of a clutch 16 or the degree of limiting a differential operation is controlled by changing variously the value of a lock signal LCK for controlling the degree of opening of a hydraulic control valve 19. Also, the differential limiting force of a center differential gear 3 is varied during a travel under acceleration. A differential limiting force LCK for increasing a speed under acceleration AX during a travel at the speed of VX, is available as LCK=LVX+LAX where LVX is a limiting force governed by the speed, and LAX is a limiting force governed by the acceleration. In other words, it is possible to obtain a differential limiting force necessary to maintain travel stability, while preventing a slip, in applying the acceleration of AX during a travel at the speed of VX.
