The process comprises treatment with a soln. of potassium thiocyanate for acidification of the mixture to pH = 5.4-5.5 by hydrochloric acid (1:1). The thiocyanate is separated, for washing with petroleum ether and drying over 3 hrs. at 40-45 deg.C and low pressure.
