PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous printing by reading a format code of a slip inserted into a printer device by an optical character reader, and comparing it with a format printed by an application program which is being executed by a computer main body. CONSTITUTION:When a slip 9 is inserted, a printer device 1 reads a slip format code 10 through an optical character reader 2 before printing is executed, and the code which is read is transferred to a recognized slip format code store area 5 through a printer signal line 8. An application program 6 issues a printing instruction to the printer device 1, and at that time, the format code of the slip inserted into the printer device 1 is stored in a correct slip format code store area 4, and its value is compared with the contents of the recognized slip format code store area 5. Also, the application program 6 displays a message on a display device 11 through a display device signal line 12. In such a way, by allowing a computer system to recognize in advance the classification of paper 9 inserted into the printer device 1, erroneous printing is prevented. |
