2,6-di:tert-butyl-4-amino-phenol used in prepn. of some phenolic antioxidants for polymers is sensitive to atmospheric O2 and has to be used immediately, following synthesis. Degradation free 2,6-di:tert.butyl-4-amino-phenol may be obtd. by the redn. of 2,6-di:tert-butyl-benzoquinone-monoxime with Na dithionite in the presence of 1% added 2,6-di:tert-butyl-4-methyl-phenol as a thermo and photooxidative stabilier
