PURPOSE:To obtain a total reflection type optical waveguide switch capable of reducing the generation of an excess loss by forming one of plural projection side optical waveguides so that the deviation of an optical path induced by a refractive index changing area in a through state is corrected. CONSTITUTION:One of the projection side optical waveguides 1b, 2b, 2b' is formed so that the deviation of the optical path induced by the refractive index changing area in the through state can be corrected. Since light in a through state generates an optical path deviation such as an axial deviation or an angular deviation in a process passing the refractive index changing area, an excess loss is generated, but since the formation positions of the waveguides 1b, 2b, 2b' are corrected only by a deviation value corresponding to the optical path deviation, the excess loss due to the optical path deviation can be reduced. Thus, the low loss and total reflection type optical waveguide switch capable of reducing excess loss can be obtained. |
