The process comprises transesterification reaction at a residual reactor pressure of 350 mmHg and up to 120 deg. C.. The methyl methacrylate is applied with catalyst (sulphuric acid) and the 2-ethyl hexyl alcohol contains the remainder of the catalyst. Hydroquinone polymerisation inhibitor is also employed in the reaction.
