THERMAL TRANSFER MATERIAL AND THERMAL TRANSFER IMAGE FORMING METHOD

PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer image having good light fastness and high image density by bringing a thermal transfer dye donating material containing an ultraviolet absorber and a thermal transfer image receiving material into contact with each other to heat both of them imagewise and transferring a dye and the ultraviolet absorber from the thermal transfer dye donating material to the thermal transfer image receiving material. CONSTITUTION:A thermal transfer dye donating material is formed by applying a coating composition for an yellow dye donating layer containing an ultraviolet absorber to the surface of a polyethylene terephthalate film having a thickness of 6mum by wire coating so that thickness at the time of drying becomes 1.5mum to dry the coating layer and a thermal transfer image receiving material is formed by preparing resin coated paper obtained by laminating polyethylene to both surfaces of paper having thickness of 200mum respectively in thicknesses of 15mum and 25mum and applying a coating composition for an image receiving layer containing the ultraviolet absorber to the laminated surface with thickness of 15mum of the resin coated paper in dry thickness of 10mum by wire bar coating to dry the coating layer. These materials are superposed one upon another so that the thermal transfer dye donating layer and the image receiving layer come into contact with each other and a thermal head is used on the support side of the thermal transfer dye donating material to heat said material and full-color transfer recording is applied to the image receiving layer of the thermal transfer image receiving material.
