Packaging material is made from biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate in a mould by combined blowing and mechanical stretching or preformed raw material. The source of the pressure medium for the blowing process also supplies an actuating cylinder which moves a stretching rod coaxially inside the mould. The blowing medium can be compressed air controlled by a valve. The seal between the rod and the housing can be pressurised in proportion to the blowing pressure.
