The invention relates to the bleaching of textile materials. It concerns a bleaching bath based on hydrogen peroxide, an alkali metal hydroxide and a stabiliser, the bath being useful for bleaching textile materials and being characterised in that it furthermore contains, in combination: from 1 to 20 grams, per litre of bath, of an ammonium, alkali metal or alkaline earth metal persulphate or peroxydisulphate and from 4 to 20 grams, per litre of bath, of a sequestering agent in the form of an alkali metal, ammonium or amine salt.
