PURPOSE:To improve starting performance and the output in the intermediate or high load operation state by carrying out combustion operation in a cylinder having a high compression ratio when an engine body is in low load operation state and carrying out combustion operation in all cylinders in other operation states. CONSTITUTION:In a control unit 60, fuel injection control pulse signals P5-P8 are supplied into the fuel injection valves 18A-18L arranged on cylinders 14A-14D, when an engine body 10 is in starting operation state, while the fuel injection control pulse signals P1-P4 are not supplied into the fuel injection valves 16A-16D arranged on the cylinders 12A-12D as low compression ratio cylinder group, and further, a control signal Cv is not supplied into a boosted pressure control valve 42. Accordingly, the boosted pressure control valve 42 keeps a communication passage 40 in closed state, and only the second cylinder group consisting of the cylinders 14A-14D as high compression ratio cylinder group performs combustion operation. |
