PURPOSE:To efficiently perform processing such as thickening character at a high speed by forming and storing unit data for thickening or shading, generating the outline image of image data obtained by reading an image and then reading out and writing the unit data on the image of the image data. CONSTITUTION:The unit data is used for the processing of thickening the character or shading, and bit map data for writing along the outline of the outline image, that is, the unit data is previously formed. An original image is copied at an address w1 in a working area for outline 11 to convert it into the outline bit map of one picture element. Then, picture elements are successively read out from the working area for outline 11(w1). When the picture element of (dx,dy) is read out and the bit b=1, the unit data is read out and written so that the upper left picture element of the unit data may align with the position of (dx,dy) in a unit data write working area 20. As a result, the bit map obtained by writing the unit data with OR along the outline on the area 11 is left on the inner side (at the position of (bx,by) from the upper left and in the area of swXsh) of the working area 20. |
