PURPOSE:To prevent the resolution of a liquid sample from being decreased and perform effective ionization by providing a penetration hole at the inner part of a needle electrode and guiding the liquid sample to a discharge chamber through this penetration hole. CONSTITUTION:A liquid sample which flows from a liquid chromatograph 9 passes through the penetration hole of a hollow electrode 10 and is guided to a discharge chamber 11 from its tip. A guide pipe 12 is provided outside the electrode 10 and its tip is made narrow. A fine gap is formed between the tip and that of the electrode 10. On the other hand, carrier gas 2 is changed into a jet stream between the electrode 10 and guide pipe 12 and discharged to the discharge chamber 11. Therefore, there is no dead volume between the exit of the liquid chromatograph 9 and the discharge chamber 11 and a liquid sample guide section is collected into an ionized section without deteriorating the resolution of the liquid sample. As a result, effective ionization can be performed. |
