Photographic film giving simultaneous exposure of characteristic data - presented in machine and/or human readable form at side of perforations away from picture frame

The lower film edge has the manufacturer's markings designating the frame number and the DX code (5') which as well as giving the film type can also show the frame number in bar code form. The upper film edge is for the exposed frame data, e.g. for frame no.2 the date 28.05.90 (6) also gives as a bar code (6'). This information can be printed on the back of the print or enlargement made from the developed film. If the bar code is not used the exposure data can be imaged on a CCD chip. The pinel pattern derived can be printed on the back, e.g. by a needle printer. ADVANTAGE - No effect on picture taken.
