Optical print head with glass plate carrier - facilitates gate row testing before combination into large format print heads

The optical print head has a glass plate carrier (1) for a PLZT (lead, lanthanum, zirconate, titenate) light gate row consisting of a PLZT ceramic (3) with polarisers in front of and behind it in the light path and has driver ICs for the light gates and conductor structures. The glass plate and the light gate row are of the same length andm the optically effective length of the light gate row is the same as its mechanical length. The glass plate has polarisation properties. USE/ADVANTAGE - Print head is designed to enable light gate lines to be tested before being combined into large format print heads.
