PURPOSE:To maintain safety even at abnormal time by using a separator made of a fine porous film treated with ionizing radiation ray in 0.1-10 Mrad dose. CONSTITUTION:Ni foils 1A, 1B are connected to an impedance measuring apparatus 7 and masked with Teflon tape 6 leaving a rectangular area. A separator 3 is impregnated with an electrolytic solution and fixed between the Ni foils 1A, 1B by means the tape 6. A thermocouple 5 for measuring the temperature is stuck to a glass plate 2B by means of the tape 6 and a space between glass plates 2A, 2B is filled with a specified electrolyte so that a battery may be formed together with an anode and cathode. The separator 3 is formed of synthetic resin-made finely porous film which is treated with ionizing radiation ray in 0.1-10 Mrad dose. As a result, even at the abnormal time such as short- circuiting under severe conditions, the battery can perform excellent functions and maintain safety and reliability. |
