For a process for recovering the material of disposable packs, especially of tray-shaped packaging containers for long-distance catering, it is proposed to guide the containers, with the open side pointing downwards, in succession over a cleaning shower directed upwards from below and thereafter under a cleaning shower directed downwards from above, and to subject them subsequently to a material compression by means of vertically directed forces and finally to a pressing operation, taking place perpendicularly thereto, for the further compression of the material.
