Light-reflecting or transparent parts of vehicle lamps or spotlights (I) are claimed, which are coated with a material (II) based on a water-insol. binder matrix consisting of a polyacrylic and/or polyester resin crosslinked internally through methylol gps. or externally with amino resins (III) and contg. non-ionic wetting agent(s) (IV). - . (I) are lenses or transparent cover plates made of (in)organic glass, or reflectors; matrix contains up to 10 wt.% other resins, esp. epoxy resins; (IV) is (a) 8-18C fatty alcohol, amine and/or acid, 9-15C oxo-alcohol or nonylphenol, each with 1-14 mols. ethylene or propylene oxide (EO or PO) per mol., (b) alkyl mono- or poly-glucoside with 2-6 glucose units and linear satd. 8-18C alkyl gps. linked via acetal linkages to glucose with up to 14 EO units/mol., or the corresp. mono-, di- or triglycerides, (c) end-blocked ethoxylates of formula RO-(CH2CH2O)n-H (IVA) (with R = 1-10C alkyl, aryl or aralkyl; n = 4-10) and opt. adducts with higher alkoxides or (d) polyether-polysiloxanes or fluoro-surfactants, pref. nonylphenol with 6-10 (pref.8) EO gps./mol. and/or sorbitan mono-stearate, oleate or laurate with 1-14 EO gps./mol. and/or a polyether-siloxane copolymer of formula (IVB) (with ratio x:y = (5:1)-(1:1); a = 80-100 wt.%; b = 20-0 wt.%); amt. of (IV) is 5-60 (pref. 10-30) wt.% w.r.t. binder matrix. - - The coating film is applied by casting, rolling, painting, spraying or dipping.
