The carbon or carbon fibre friction lining is for motor vehicle drive brakes. Pairs of friction surfaces comprise rotary supports and other fixed in the peripheral direction, clad with segments or discs of the lining material.The material is so shaped, fixed and supported as to allow relative movement between it and the respective supports, necessary for free thermal expansion. The sections of lining material have grooves engaged by bosses on the metal support components, or alternatively the latter have edges or protrusions, by which they engage positively the lining sections
