Process for dyeing keratinous fibres, especially human keratinous fibres such as hair, wherein a composition containing in a medium suitable for dyeing, at least 2,4-diamino-1,3-dimethoxybenzene as coupler; an oxidation dye precursor; an oxidising agent; is applied on these fibres, the pH of the composition applied on the fibres being below 7.
