Photosynthesis of organic substances from CO2 gas is carried out in such a manner that: ZnO powder (11) is activated in its surface by a heat treatment; said activated ZnO powder is supplied with CO2 gas and H2O gas and is simultaneously irradiated by visible light to photosynthesize organic substances, of which major product is methanol. The present inventive method is free from hydrogen gas as well as UV rays so that it is quite economical and is practically applicable to industrial purposes. <IMAGE> |
