PURPOSE:To obtain an ink absorption recovering device by providing driving means for elastically deforming easily elastically deformable part of an elastic cap member when the ink discharging face of a recording head is sealed by the member. CONSTITUTION:A cap holder 10 is so pressed as to be moved forward to bring the end of an elastic cap member 7 into contact with a recording head 1 to be slightly deformed. Since the elastically deformable part 7B of the member 7 is elastically deformed to be externally pressed, the inner volume of the mem ber 7 is increased, introduction of the air into a nozzle is alleviated, and a meniscus in the nozzle is not retracted. Accordingly, an excellent printing is immediately performed without suction by a suction pump 6. If fine bubbles are generated and improper discharge occurs, the part 7B is pressed inward of the member 7. Since the inner pressure of the member 7 is suitably increased, large bubbles are generated in the head 1, and the fine bubbles are integrated. The pump 6 is started to discharge them out of the member 7. |
