<p>The a.c. mains supply is connected to two input terminals (Ui1, Ui2). Initially the current is fed via a switch (S2), choke (L) and capacitor (C2) to the output terminals (Uo1, Uo2), across which another capacitor (C1) is connected. The first series switch is opened and the end (V) of the choke is connected by another switch (S1 ) wo the other input terminal (Ui1). The back e.m.f. from the choke `starts' the discharge, after which the switch states are both changed to continue the feed to the tube (B). The circuit can also feed two tubes (TL1, TL2) in series with a further capacitor (C3). The switch operations are controlled by a switching control circuit (SS).</p> |
