The invention relates to a variety of mint (Mentha piperita L.) called "Cordial", obtained by clonal individual selection, applied to the generative descendence of a Soviet origin Mentha piperita population; it is designed for producing vegetal raw material (fresh or dry leaves) and volatile oil, used in the chemical-pharmaceutical and food industries, recommended for cultivation in all areas favourable to mint culture in our country. According to the invention, this variety has morphologic features favouring a high production potential, a vegetation period of 104-118 days, resistance to main diseases, rust and downey mildew, with a high volatile oil content of 3.56 -4.31ml%, a menthol content of 49.93g %, corresponding to an average production of 42.7-69.1 Kg/ha volatile oil and 22.2 Kg/ha menthol, respectively; this variety offers an average fresh leaves production of 57.2-158.5 q/ha, and, respectively, 13.1-17.8 q/ha dry leaves.
