Compsn. for used as spongy India rubber with open cells is composed of 100 pts natural rubber, 5 pts. bis(orthobenzamidophenyl) sulphide, 15 pts. zinc oxide, 1 pt phenyl-beta-naphthylamine, 2 pts. Stearin, 1 pt paraffin, 20 pts. vaseline, 5 pts. pine resin, 5 pts TiO2, 0.5 pts colourant, 60 pts Ba SO4, 1.5 pts. mercaptobenzothiazole, 0.4 pts tetramethylthiuramdisulphide, 2.3 pts. sulphur, 15 pts. dinitropenta methylenetetramine (all in wts. pts.). The compsn. may be vulcanised in a mould at 118 deg.C for 30 mins.
