PURPOSE:To properly recognize even when the measuring conditions of lighting change and to continue identification corresponding to the change by generating and displaying picture information that the number of colors of the input picture information is lowered with a statistic technique and assigning one or plural positions. CONSTITUTION:When lighting conditions change, input picture data are statistically processed, are color-classified and are displayed and a user assigns an identifying color. A CPU1 refers a VRAM for picture display/still display 3, recognizes the assigned color and checks the processing data of a histogram by a color data statistic processing circuit 4. Then, it is checked to what class the assigned color of the user belongs in m-dimensional feature space. In this way, the CPU1 recognizes the statistic change of the class to which the requested color of the user belongs from the processing data of the histogram and so on in the m-dimensional feature space. Thus, it can be judged that the threshold value for mapping and classifying is satisfied with a set value at the time or not. Accordingly, the user can know whether color classification is effective or not at the time with checking a processing result in the circuit 4. |
