PURPOSE:To maintain discharge capacity even when a large current is discharged and improve catalyst capacity in electrode reaction by making a required eutectic alloy layer exist on the surface of hydrogen storage alloy powder, in the hydrogen storage alloy electrode used for the negative pole of a metal-hydrogen alkaline battery. CONSTITUTION:When a conductive metallic layer and an eutectic alloy layer consisting of a conductive metal and an intermetallic compound exist on the surface of a hydrogen storage alloy powder, whose discharge capacity is maintained even when a large current is discharged by this eutectic metallic layer, and also the catalyst properties in electrode reaction is elevated, and the powder becomes a hydrogen storage alloy electrode wherein quick charge and discharge properties are remarkably elevated. |
