PURPOSE:To obtain a material for treatments which exhibits high bio- compatibility over a long period of time by providing a graft layer formed by bonding of a macromer having a specific group at one terminal to the functional group of a polymer existing on the surface of a base material at the other reactive terminal of the macromer. CONSTITUTION:This material has the graft layer formed by bonding of the macromer having the residual group of fat-soluble vitamine having the bio- compatibility at one terminal to the functional group of the polymer existing on the surface of the base material at the other reactive terminal of the macromer on the surface of the base material constituted of the polymer which has repeating unit having the functional group. Since the graft chains are formed only on the surface of the base material in this case, the surface characteristics can be changed without changing the internal properties of the base material. The graft chain is uniform and distinct and the control of the chain length and kinetic characteristic is easy. The blank material having the improved bio-compatibility is obtd. in this way.
