The invention concerns a furnace with a circulating bed that includes a vertical combustion chamber and a convection part which is formed at least partly of tube walls and a horizontal cyclone separator whose gas inlet channel is connected to the upper part of the combustion chamber and a return channel for solid material that is connected to the lower part of the combustion chamber. To produce a compact design the cyclone separator is arranged above the combustion chamber and to form the cyclone separator the two opposite tube walls of the combustion chamber used, as well as optionally one of the tube walls of the convection part.
