The one-piece decorative element is formed from at least one core (2) made of composite material of the sandwich box type which constitutes the strength part of the element (1) and from a jacket (3) made of decorative composite material which provides the aesthetic character of the element (1). According to the method of manufacture of the present application, a decorative and/or functional material (4), the curvature and/or the planarity of which is different from that of its attachment surface (8), is rigidly fastened to at least one face of the said element (1), and the rigidity of the said core (2) is adjusted so as to counterbalance the shape (line of deformation) of the said decorative and/or functional material (4). <IMAGE>
