The labyrinth seal has a fluid return channel (7E) provided between the labyrinth chamber (7C) associated with the last labyrinth sealing gap. A housing assembly (6) is filled with fluid vapour, containing the sealed shaft. The fluid return channel has a bent fluid collecting section (7G) which closes the channel on both sides.
