PURPOSE:To enable form printing to be easily performed on continuous papers having various top-to-bottom sizes, by bringing an impression cylinder and a transfer cylinder into contact with each other at only a rotational phase part corresponding to a top-to- bottom size of a continuous paper designated by top-to-bottom size information, and controlling a paper feed quantity according to the top-to-bottom size of the continuous paper synchronously with the separating and contacting timings of the cylinders. CONSTITUTION:A reference rotary encoder 31 is connected to a rotary shaft of a blanket cylinder 2, whereby a signal Z having one pulse per rotation of the blanket cylinder 2 and a signal A having, for example, 240 pulses/in (ppi) on the circumference of the cylinder 2 are derived as the cylinder 2 is rotated. A printing controller 32 calculates a timing required for controlling an intermittent feed of a continuous paper 12, based on the timing reference signals Z, A and a top-to-bottom size information data signal, and supplies a motor controller 34 with a required timing command signal. The motor controller 34 is supplied with the signal A from the encoder 31 and with a signal B from an encoder 196, and while constantly comparing the two signals with each other, it outputs a driving signal to a motor driver 35. Start and stop timings for the operation of the motor controller 34 are designated by the timing command signal sent from the printing controller 32. |
