Spent residue, esp. beer grains, or brewer's yeast is processed into a cattle feed similar to feed concentrates, by adding a starch-rich vegetable feed material with a dry solids content of more than 80%, pref. more than 90%, or molasses from vegetable or animal prods. to the beer grains or brewer's yeast. Pref. the additive is solubilised in the brewing residues by swelling under heat, esp. utilising the inherent heat of the brewing residues. The addn. is pref. made into the collection zone of the beer grains liquor, esp. into the lower section of the collection vessel for the spent residue, or the additive may be distributed over the bottom of the spent residue collection vessel prior to introducing the spent liquor. USE/ADVANTAGE - Process provides a cheap and simple means of processing a waste prod. from the brewing of beer into a high grade cattle feed similar to feed concentrates.
