The utensil (20) for cooking an egg has an inner container (40) for water which is electrically heated. The egg is supported by a device (30) and is covered by a hood (10). The water in the container (40) is converted to steam by the heating element and the steam cooks the egg. The hood (10) is made from thermally insulating material. The hood consists of inner and outer shells which are moulded in plastic, with the gap between the shells being filled with a thermally insulating material. The hood reduces the loss of heat during cooking and also keeps the egg warm after it has been cooked. USE - Cooking eggs.
